The international nonprofit CDP has once again given Mitsubishi Electric its A-list rankings for both climate change and water security activities.

The top ratings recognise the environmental focus of Mitsubishi Electric’s commercial activities and goals as well as the company’s timely information disclosure. Mitsubishi Electric has been named to the A-list eight times in both categories since 2016, and it has achieved the highest rating in each category for three consecutive years.
About 24,800 companies accounting for two-thirds of global market capitalisation disclose environmental data to the CDP. In 2024, only 2% of the companies achieved an A-list rating. Just 0.3% secured an A-list rating for both climate change and water security activities, according to its survey by Mitsubishi Electric.
The company is said to be pursuing carbon neutrality, supporting circular economies; while also creating new businesses and strengthening its business foundation.
Mitsubishi Electric will continue to contribute to the realisation of a sustainable global environment throughout its global value chains, energy-saving products and systems, and infrastructure.
Its climate change initiatives
According to its Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050, Mitsubishi Electric is advancing efforts to achieve the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets set out in its mid-term plan this year.
Additionally, the group has launched its heat-related total solutions — an initiative that reduces energy costs and promotes decarbonisation. Using its digital platform Serendie, the company analyses the energy and equipment operation data of manufacturing businesses, building owners, and heat supply operators. It provides support service, ranging from consulting to the efficient operation and management of energy.
Mitsubishi Electric has also launched its railway data analysis service — a solution based on the Serendie digital platform that enables train operators to analyse their electricity usage, train operation status and other items. This allows them to optimise energy consumption and reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
Its water security initiatives
As part of its Environmental Plan 2025 — covering from April 2024 to March 2026 —Mitsubishi Electric has been promoting initiatives to achieve the water-use reduction targets at high-risk sites. In FY2024, water usage was cut by 32% compared with FY2019.
The company has managed water usage and discharges at domestic and overseas manufacturing sites, reduced water use, and implemented more effective measures for saving and reusing water.
It also supplied water purification systems that utilise ozone and other technologies to water and sewage treatment sites, factories, and public facilities, according to the group.
