Yokogawa Electric Corporation has released the OpreX Pressure Transmitter EJX S Series, the successor to its EJX A line of plant field instruments. Building on more than three decades of refinement in silicon resonant sensor technology, the new series delivers enhanced accuracy, long-term stability and durability to support stable plant operations while improving maintenance efficiency.
Sales of the EJX S Series will commence on 9 Mar 2026 across South East Asia, China, North and South America, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa and India, with the Japanese market scheduled to follow in September. Yokogawa will continue to expand the lineup with additional models offering enhanced capabilities to meet evolving industry requirements.
Differential pressure and pressure transmitters are essential to process industries, providing critical measurements of pressure, flow rate and liquid level in tanks and pipelines.
In 1991, Yokogawa is said to be the first company in the world to introduce a differential pressure and pressure transmitter equipped with a silicon resonant sensor. This formed the foundation of the DPharp EJX A Series within the OpreX Field Instruments family and gained acceptance for its accuracy and long-term stability.
The EJX S Series builds on that technological legacy while responding to a more complex operating landscape shaped by stricter regional regulations, increasingly diversified supply chains, labour shortages and mounting environmental expectations.
At the core of the EJX S Series is Yokogawa’s silicon resonant sensor technology, now further enhanced to deliver an accuracy of ±0.025% with the optional /HAC specification, long-term stability of ±0.1% over 20 years and rangeability of up to 400:1. The transmitters support both HART and PROFINET communication protocols, ensuring compatibility with modern digital plant environments.
Designed for demanding industrial conditions, the devices carry an IP68 dustproof and waterproof rating, offer improved noise immunity and comply with SIL2 requirements as defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508 functional safety standard. Under this framework, Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) range from SIL1-SIL4, with SIL2 representing a reduction in risk compared to systems without certified safety measures in place.
Operational visibility has also been enhanced through a new colour backlit graphic display that presents process variables and device status information with improved clarity. The LCD display supports NAMUR NE107-compliant alerts, using colour-coded indications to enable intuitive recognition of device status, even from a distance. This facilitates faster on-site inspections and more efficient troubleshooting.
To streamline specification and reduce lifecycle costs, Yokogawa has incorporated compliance with multiple explosion-proof standards, dual power supply support and advanced diagnostic functions as standard features. This reduces the need for numerous model and suffix variations while allowing the transmitters to address a broader range of applications.
A modular design further simplifies maintenance by enabling easier parts replacement and servicing, helping users optimise spare parts management, reduce inventory holdings and lower operating costs.
Sustainability considerations have also shaped the development of the EJX S Series. Guided by Yokogawa’s Trusted Green principles, the transmitters have been designed to minimise environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.
CO2 emissions during production have been reduced, supporting customers in lowering their Scope 3 emissions. In addition, the modular construction facilitates easier disassembly and disposal at end of life, contributing to reduced environmental impact after use and more efficient resource management.
The EJX S Series is targeted at a broad spectrum of industries, including oil and gas, LNG, downstream processing, chemicals, power, renewable energy, food and pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, iron and steel, mining and metals, and water and wastewater. Across these sectors, the transmitters are suited to measuring liquid level, flow rate and pressure of liquids, gases and steam in tanks and pipelines, reinforcing Yokogawa’s commitment to reliable, high-performance field instrumentation in an increasingly demanding industrial environment.
