Bentley Systems has opened submissions for its 2026 Year in Infrastructure (YII) event and YII Awards, a global programme recognising digital innovation in infrastructure delivery using its software.
Now in its third decade, the awards have attracted more than 5,500 projects worldwide, highlighting advances in how infrastructure is planned, designed, built and operated. Submissions for the 2026 edition will be accepted until 3 May 2026.
Monica Schnitger, founder and principal analyst at Schnitger Corporation, said the programme has evolved from recognising early 3D design applications to assessing how projects harness data across the full asset lifecycle — from financial decision-making through to construction and operations.
Past winning projects include major infrastructure developments such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel in the UK and Sydney Airport in Australia, demonstrating measurable economic, environmental and societal outcomes driven by digital innovation.
Bentley Systems chief marketing officer Cate Lochead said: “Around the world, infrastructure professionals rely on Bentley software to design, build, and operate infrastructure that is more resilient, efficient, and sustainable.”
“The YII Awards celebrate real world results from teams that are innovating in areas that include ground informed design, connected data, and AI. It is important to promote this work as best practice as these achievements set a new standard for what is possible across the infrastructure ecosystem.”
Entries are judged by independent industry experts based on digital advancement and quantifiable performance improvements, including cost, efficiency and sustainability metrics.
The YII Awards 2026 will cover a broad range of disciplines, including bridges and tunnels, energy production, rail and transit, roads and highways, and water and wastewater.
Finalists will be announced in August 2026 and invited to present their projects at the YII event, taking place in Singapore on 6-7 Oct 2026, where winners will be revealed.
