Gradiant has completed the delivery of critical water infrastructure for a major new semiconductor manufacturing facility in Dresden, Germany, supporting one of Europe’s largest chipmaking investments and reinforcing the continent’s push to strengthen semiconductor supply chains.
Backed by around €5bn in investment and €1bn in public funding under initiatives including the European Chips Act and IPCEI, the facility will double manufacturing capacity at the customer’s Dresden site, create around 1,000 skilled jobs, and produce 300mm power semiconductors and analogue and mixed-signal chips for AI, electric vehicles, renewable energy and industrial applications.
Gradiant supplied ultrapure water (UPW) and water recovery systems designed to meet the stringent requirements of semiconductor fabrication, where water quality is critical to production yields. Its rinse-water recovery technology also enables water reuse within the facility, supporting a target recycling rate of up to 45% by 2033 while conserving drinking water resources.
The project was completed three months ahead of schedule, helping accelerate the commissioning of a strategically important manufacturing site at a time when governments and industry are racing to expand semiconductor capacity amid growing demand from AI and electrification.
